Focus: Developing and strengthening CIID’s visual identity across digital and physical touchpoints.
We are looking for a Visual & Communication Designer to help us develop and maintain a coherent visual language for CIID, translating our identity into practical guidelines, templates, content and applications across both digital and physical environments.
This is a hands-on role for a young designer interested in working across branding, graphic design, digital communication, content creation and environmental graphics. You will work with real CIID projects and activities, helping us communicate the work of our students, faculty and innovation teams while strengthening how CIID is represented across different channels and spaces.
The internship offers hands-on experience working with the visual identity of an international design and innovation organisation across a wide range of real-world applications.
You will develop experience across visual and communication design, branding, content creation, social media design, web design, editorial design and environmental graphics, learning how to translate a brand identity into a coherent visual system that works across multiple formats and touchpoints.
You will also gain experience in identifying, capturing and communicating compelling stories from design and innovation projects — translating complex processes and ideas into clear and engaging visual content.
We are looking for a student or recent graduate in visual communication, communication design, graphic design or a related field, with strong graphic foundations and visual storytelling.
You should be comfortable moving between digital and physical design — from social media content, websites and presentations to printed materials, signage and spatial applications.
Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud or similar is important. Experience with video and motion tools is considered a plus.
Some experience or interest in photography, video and content creation would be particularly valuable, as the role includes capturing and communicating the projects, people and activities taking place at CIID.
The internship is based at CIID’s home in the historic Monastero di Astino in Bergamo, working alongside the Interaction Design Programme and CIID’s international community of students, designers, faculty and visiting professionals.
CIID brings together young professionals from around the world, making English part of everyday working life and offering plenty of opportunities to build international connections.
Throughout the year, international designers and professionals come to CIID to teach, collaborate and share their work. Interns are part of the CIID community and are welcome to join talks, presentations and other learning opportunities taking place during their time with us.
The CIID facilities also include physical workshops for prototyping, making and experimenting with technology, which can be accessed where relevant and based on demonstrated skills.
