Location & Facilities

CIID’s location in Bergamo, Italy - is a place where life-centred design, nature and history come together in extraordinary ways.Nestled in the hills of northern Italy, our studio is within the grounds of a former 12th-century monastery, now thoughtfully rennovated as a hub for creativity, education, and collaboration. The surrounding landscape, part of the Astino Valley, provides a living space for exploring regenerative design and technology.

Why Bergamo?

Bergamo is a city with deep cultural roots and a growing reputation for innovation. The Astino Valley offers the perfect setting for CIID’s experimental and cross-disciplinary approach. Here, design doesn’t just live in labs and studios — it engages with ecosystems, communities, and heritage.

This new location hosts workshops, pop-up schools, and our full-time Interaction Design Programme. It is a base for future-facing conversations about the evolving role of design in a complex world.
