The objective of the project was to create a short film that would represent a specific emotion in some way.
After an initial process of discussion and comparison, we decided to work on the concept of “Solitude”, creating a film that represented the clear separation between life inside the city and the search for a moment of pause in nature.
The protagonist of the video is shown moving through these two environments: the city—chaotic, fast-paced and noisy—and nature—peaceful, silent and welcoming.
We filmed the entire video in the hills surrounding the city of Bergamo, in a beautiful autumn landscape that allowed us to capture truly fascinating footage. In a single day of shooting, we accumulated almost 250 GB of video.
This was a significant amount of data, perhaps too much. As a result, transferring the footage from the devices we used for filming to our computers for editing proved to be a challenge.
Fortunately, Naman’s experience with photography and editing allowed us to create exactly the video we had envisioned, despite the limited time available.
Overall, it was an interesting experience. Being placed in the role of a director and learning the basics of cinematography and editing gave us new tools that will be useful not only throughout our studies, but also in our everyday lives.
