
Conductive Knitting explores the intersection of traditional textile craft and electronics by using conductive thread to create circuits within knitted and crocheted forms. LEDs are integrated directly into the textile or placed on a separate base that the thread will connect with, allowing the material itself to become part of the circuit.
The team experimented with different materials and connections to create a functional circuit, testing how the structure of the textile affected conductivity. The project grew from an interest in reimagining familiar craft techniques through technology and exploring how electronics can become embedded within the making process.
They discovered the challenges of balancing the physical qualities of textiles with the technical requirements of a working circuit and how to open up possibilities for more tactile and expressive forms of interaction.
