One Fading Minute

“One Fading Minute” considers the digital history as a physical place through movement. When a participant is crossing the camera, the far top left frame displays the present moment and the following frames display the participant’s past self is getting delayed until the final frame in a snaking motion until the final frame is reached at the bottom right hand corner. It is a project that reveals the lack of consequences to digital actions as nothing in the video is saveable to the participants. The brief was to examine how to minimize context switching between physical and digital environments. To capture this concept as a digital  infinity mirror was assembled that captures the milliseconds that are lost in video viewing all at the same time in a grid breaking down a video into it’s foundational parts - photos. By adding ribbons attached to a pole, there is another variable that is integrated into the experience and influence the projection.
