Tetris, Reimagined with AI

Tetris is beloved across cultures, whichever country we grew up in, chances are we spent hours stacking blocks and chasing that satisfying line clear. For this project, we set out to build our own multiplayer Tetris, not by spending months mastering complex game architecture, but by collaborating with AI to build it together.

We started by giving Claude simple, high-level instructions to scaffold the basic framework and infrastructure. From there, we fed in the game mechanics step by step, layering in complexity and fun as we went. 

Beyond the classic Tetris mechanics, the  real strategic twist is the attack-and-counter system. Clearing lines doesn't just score points. It sends garbage lines crashing onto your opponent's board. But timing is everything: if you clear lines of your own while garbage is incoming, it cancels out some or all of the attack. That tension is the heart of the game - do you clear fast and stay defensive, or hold out for a big Tetris and counter-attack?

Looking ahead, we plan to design a polished UI and explore customization options so players can make the game their own.

This project was built entirely through AI collaboration, with every instruction, decision, and design choice coming from us. Along the way, we learned how to communicate our ideas clearly to AI, how multiplayer game logic actually works under the hood, and, maybe most importantly, how to see AI not as a shortcut, but as a creative collaborator for projects to come.
