Connecting curious minds - all around the world

Online - June 16th- 12 noon CEST

CIID Connect is a monthly online event series bringing people together around ideas and conversations that shape the future of design for positive impact. Each session features designers, researchers, educators, technologists, artists and change-makers sharing their work, experiences and provocations.

This month our speakers share their perspectives and projects that have impacted people and non-humans.

Laura Boffi is an interaction and service designer, researcher, and facilitator whose work explores biodiversity conservation and the relationships between humans and the more-than-human world. She collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, local communities, users, and stakeholders through participatory design processes, creating and facilitating design games, workshops, co-creation sessions, and prototyping activities. Laura develops both her own research methods and design tools, crafting prototypes across a range of media and iterating throughout every stage of the design process - from early concept exploration to refined implementation. Her recent work, The Embassy of Reindeers, is an interspecies experiment that draws on the profound bond between reindeer and herders to map changes in forests, pastures, and snow, offering new perspectives on environmental change and multispecies collaboration.

In his talk Taming the Blue Sky, Saurabh Datta will share stories from both recent and past projects, reflecting on the realities of navigating ambiguity, possibility and the often-unruly space between ideas and outcomes. Saurabh is a designer, technologist and maker whose practice moves fluidly between strategy, prototyping, communication and experience design. His career has taken him from India to Copenhagen, Shanghai, Beijing, Berlin and beyond. Alongside his professional work, he develops self-initiated projects in the form of critical artifacts, sculptural interventions and speculative explorations. Across these endeavours, he examines the ways technology influences behaviour, culture and the stories we tell about the future.

Rooted in curiosity, experimentation and life-long learning, CIID Connect is a space for dialogue and exchange. These events are open to all - students, professionals, alumni, educators and anyone curious to join an ongoing global conversation shaped by diverse voices and perspectives.

The talks take place in the first hour, followed by 30 minutes for anyone who would like to stay longer to ask questions and have informal conversations.
