CIID Constellation

CIID Constellation is a conceptual installation that employs star constellations as a metaphor to visually articulate social connections—specifically those formed between CIID students and members of the Bergamo community. By translating interpersonal relationships into a shared visual language, the project seeks to highlight the social fabric that surrounds the CIID ecosystem.

The project is guided by the following research question:
How might CIID students share their individual connections within Bergamo in order to collectively learn about local residents, gain deeper understanding through their stories, and enrich their lived experience in the city?

CIID students are understood as catalysts of connection embedded within the local context. However, many of the relationships they form remain invisible to the wider CIID community. The primary objective of the installation is therefore to surface these existing yet unseen connections and make them collectively accessible to CIID students and faculty, fostering a stronger sense of belonging and community engagement.

A key learning from the project emerged through engagement with CIID neighbors and local residents. Their perspectives provided valuable insight into how CIID is perceived from outside the institution and directly informed the development of the problem statement. Through this process, the team identified a critical gap: CIID students currently lack a structured means to bridge their individual relationships in Bergamo with the broader CIID community, limiting the potential for shared learning and collective connection.
