Murph explores a digital archive that helps people capture and reflect on their memories over time.
The prototype combines passive journaling, a timeline view, and light AI guidance. Instead of storing memories as static records, it treats them as active and meaningful parts of life.
The app can log moments in the background with user permission. These “memories” may include photos, locations, and music, social media uploads and such and each with a short note. All entries appear in a simple timeline, making it easy to move between past, present, and future moments. People have the capability to also manually edit, remove or add new or past moments.
A key feature is “AI whispers.” These are short summaries and reflections based on saved content. They appear from time to time and encourage people to revisit experiences, notice patterns, and better understand how their year was and what they could work on to grow in the next year.
The app is designed for those who enjoy journaling and reflection. It also supports those who already collect memories through photos and social media but lack a clear way to reflect on them. Early research showed that while people capture many moments, they rarely turn them into meaningful insights. This project aims to fill that gap.
The value of the app lies in turning passive memory collection into active reflection. Simple interactions and gentle AI support make reflection easier and more natural.
The main learning of this project was the importance of balance. Too much automation can feel intrusive, while too little guidance can reduce engagement. Careful design of tone, timing, and layout helped create an experience that feels helpful, not overwhelming.
