The design challenges that matter most today rarely arrive at a single scale. They surface in the moment an AI agent acts on someone's behalf, in the complexity of a service that must work across an entire ecosystem, in the cultural conditions of an organisation that keeps producing the same outcomes, and in the long horizon of consequences we are only beginning to learn to see.
Four of these courses meet those challenges directly, designed for practitioners and students working at the intersection of design, strategy, and systems. The fifth takes a different angle — one aimed at the next generation of designers, returning to something foundational: the act of making things that are physical, surprising, and genuinely alive to the touch.
What connects all five is a belief that the best way to understand something is to try to change it. At CIID, we learn by doing — and doing means committing to the cycle at the heart of everything we make: build, test, repeat. Across every course, at every scale, that is how insight becomes practice, and practice becomes impact.

This course explores the intersection of AI, creativity, and interaction design, moving beyond the hype to uncover meaningful applications. Students will be challenged to rethink human-AI collaboration, and use machine intelligence to design future products, interfaces, and experiences. Through hands-on prototyping and experimentation, we will explore new interaction models, synthetic perception, and AI-driven design processes.
This course explores the fusion of digital and physical spaces to create interactive and engaging environments. It focuses on designing for extended reality (XR), blending augmented and mixed realities to transform navigation, storytelling, and human interaction. Through hands-on prototyping and real-world experimentation, students will develop new ways to enhance and redefine immersive experiences.
The future is uncertain, but design can help us navigate and shape what’s ahead. This course introduces a hands-on approach to future casting—using trend analysis, strategic foresight, scenario planning, and speculative design to anticipate and respond to emerging social, technological, and ecological shifts. Participants will learn how to design within a context of uncertainty, embracing complexity to create more resilient, forward-thinking solutions.
As our world grows more complex, designing seamless, human-centered services is essential. This course offers a hands-on introduction to the tools and mindsets of service design—helping participants create effective, end-to-end experiences across digital, physical, and interpersonal touchpoints.
