The brief for this week was about capturing life in Bergamo from a personal perspective, shaped by the experiences the group has made so far in a city that is still new to them.
The team decided to focus on everyday life on the street they are living on, Via Broseta, which is a lively, local street leading into the centre of Città Bassa. They were interested in the small moments and interactions between people that make up the rhythm of the street: people working in local businesses, sitting at the bar for a quick caffè, meeting each other in passing, or simply wandering between the different tasks of their day.
They followed the life of the street for one day, starting in the morning as shop owners open their shutters and the first people make their way through the busy streets. Older locals stop to pick up their newspapers, while others paused for a caffè at their usual bar. Around midday the day slowes down, time for gelato, laundry, a little window shopping, and all the small errands in between. As the afternoon passes, the street begins to come alive again, people gather in the park or meet at the bar for a little chitchat and an aperitivo. Eventually, the shops close and the day on Via Broseta slowly came to an end.
It was also an opportunity to get closer to the people they had already been seeing from afar, from their balcony, and to discover the cafés and small places they had passed so many times before. By spending a day following the street, they began to learn a little more about the people who live and work there, and about the stories and routines that make Via Broseta feel like a place of its own.
